An imaginative, local pupil has won the first prize in a garden design competition and has seen her creative ideas brought to life at CALA Homes' new Show Home at Amlets Place, Cranleigh.
Elsa Wooltorton, a Year Five pupil at Park Mead Primary School, created an impressive and striking scheme for the 'Design a Garden' competition, complete with a water feature, floral arch and seating area. Elsa's winning design has been implemented by Urban Vista landscapers into the garden of Plot 82, the newly opened 'Brook' Show Home.
CALA Homes approached Park Mead pupils to take part in the 'Design a Garden' competition after supporting a bridge repair in the school's own garden earlier this year, as part of the housebuilder's Community Bursary scheme.
Nicki Dennis, Sales and Marketing Director for CALA Homes South Home Counties, said "It was fantastic to work again with Park Mead Primary School and have the pupils help us to design a new garden for our Show Home. The quality of entries was fantastic and all the children demonstrated great imagination, took the guidelines into consideration and put a lot of thought into the different elements needed to bring a garden to life. Choosing the winner was extremely difficult but Elsa designed something special that really fitted the brief for a young couple or small family, who we would expect to buy a 'Brook' home. It was wonderful to welcome Elsa and the competition runner-up, Isabel, to the site to officially launch the new Show Home with us".
In addition to seeing her winning design brought to life at CALA's Cranleigh development, Elsa also received a £50 gift voucher and a certificate. Certificates of participation were given to all pupils who submitted a design and a £30 gift voucher for the runner up.
Amy Bayne, a Year Six teacher at Park Mead Primary School, comments "The pupils were really excited about the competition and having the chance to see their design created in real life really spurred them on. Elsa is absolutely delighted with the prize and her design looks amazing - we're very proud of what she created".
An ideal choice for downsizers, first time buyers and growing families alike, the three bedroom 'Brook' home is available with three options for the ground floor layout, meeting the versatile needs of a wide range of purchasers. This includes a fully open plan living space throughout the length of the home or having either the spacious kitchen/dining room or the generous sitting room situated at the rear of the property with French doors to the garden. A convenient downstairs cloakroom is accompanied by further storage cupboards for clutter free living. The home enjoys three bedrooms upstairs, one with an en suite and a separate stylish family bathroom.
Located on the edge of Cranleigh village, Amlets Place offers a collection of two to five bedroom homes in a desirable village location, with good local primary and secondary state education including nearby Park Mead Primary School. The village is ideal for commuters, with Guildford just 10 miles away, providing direct access to London Waterloo and Clapham Junction. Direct services are also available from Horsham and Dorking to London Victoria and London Bridge.
Cranleigh High Street is just one mile away from Amlets Place and has a strong sense of community with many family run businesses and independent stores mixing with well known shops and restaurants. If you enjoy being in the great outdoors, then take the family for a stroll to Pitch Hill or Leith Hill - both natural beauty spots offering hours of walking with stunning views.
