New build on the level at Bonhams Field, Yapton

There are few new bungalows being built these days so when Pat Corbett’s daughter rang to tell her about Bonham’s Field in Yapton, Pat sprang into action. 

Pat had been looking to downsize from her home in Barnham. She acted quickly which meant Pat was able to pick the property she wanted from an outstanding collection of 2, 3 & 4 bedroom homes from Seaward Homes. She chose an exceptionally attractive 3-bedroom, single-storey cottage which forms part of a barn-style courtyard finished with flint detailing. 

“My daughter spotted the details and said, ‘Mum, I think these would suit you down to the ground!’. So I went along to the sales cabin on-site to meet Caroline,” recalls Pat. “There were no foundations in, nothing to see at all except the brochure and the plans in the office. Luckily Caroline explained everything and I was able to reserve the very one I wanted. 

“I’m nearly 78 so the stairs and the garden at my old home were getting a bit harder. I had three things on my list, it had to be a bungalow, in this area where my family and friends live nearby, and close to a shop or bus stop. Bonham’s Field just ticked all the boxes. I like the fact that it’s all on one level so I don’t have to worry about stairs in the future. The layout has been cleverly arranged so there’s plenty of space. The open plan living/dining room leads out to the garden which is just the right size to potter around or to sit out and enjoy, especially as I also have an allotment. 

“I chose the kitchen with Caroline and I have upgraded to integrated appliances. The construction progress is well underway and it’s up to the roof level now so hopefully, it will be ready to move into for Christmas. It feels like it’s being built just for me.”

Pat was also pleased to learn that the property will be well insulated and more economical to run than an older home. She had lived in nearby Barnham for 20 years and in order to progress with the purchase of her chosen home at Bonham’s Field, Pat needed to sell her own property.

“I got in touch with Henry Adams in Chichester as they are also selling the homes at Bonham’s Field. They came out to see me and valued my property and we went from there. I didn’t bother with other agents as Henry Adams were so helpful and I’m quite happy with how everything turned out. We all did what we could to get things done so we could exchange.”

Pat has now completed on her previous home and is staying with her daughter until her new home is ready.
