New homes in Midhurst: stunning countryside and charming town life
In the middle of the South Downs National Park, the picturesque market town of Midhurst is one of the most attractive villages in West Sussex and in 2016, it even featured in the The Sunday Times ‘Best places to live in Britain’ survey. No surprise when you consider the blend of historic buildings, excellent facilities, the stunning surrounding landscape and comprehensive range of shops, restaurants and amenities. Alive with community spirit, Midhurst has become a favoured destination for modern living
Here are just a few reasons why you should make a move:
Location, location, location
Midhurst enjoys an unrivalled location, set on the banks of the River Rother in the very heart of the South Downs National Park. Whether it's walking the dog, exploring the breath taking views and hidden gems either on foot, on two wheels or even taking to horseback, the beautiful countryside won’t fail to fulfil. For those seeking a more relaxed way of life, take a ramble along country lanes and discover welcoming country pubs serving up local ales and home prepared food.
Access to London
If the hustle and bustle of city life is calling and you feel the need to travel further afield; be it for work or an enjoyable day out in the ‘big smoke’ you can travel via train from nearby Haslemere station to London Waterloo in as little as 52 minutes.
Midhurst offers something for everyone, with a fabulous selection of independent and well-known high street shops selling everything from country clothing and homeware to designer brands and gifts. Add into the mix traditional butchers, bakers and deli’s serving tasty home-cooked treats and it’s easy to see the appeal. The town is also home to numerous pubs, bars and restaurants catering for all the family, including firm family-favourite Pizza Express and for those seeking a relaxing drink Faustino’s Wine & Tapas Bar.
Outstanding selection of schools
Top of the class, Midhurst offers a wide selection of nurseries for families with younger children and great schools, such as Midhurst C of E Primary school for primary age children and secondary school, Midhurst Rother College, perfect for older children. There are also some fantastic private schools nearby in Duncton and Haslemere.
Local events in Midhurst
Every August you can expect to see the MADhurst Festival, an annual community event that brings together the creative, artistic and musical talent of Midhurst to local residents. At Christmas the town gets together for a communal street party, where children sing from the local schools, the Christmas tree lights are switched on and musical entertainment provided by local musicians. We have to say though, the highlight of the social calendar is in July when world-class players and celebrity spectators attend the polo at Cowdray Park.
